How can hotels offset their carbon footprint?

Although the hotel industry is one of the most evolving industries in the field of sustainability, hotels still generate CO2 emissions. In the case of the hotel ‘Fuerte El Rompido’ (Huelva), located near a unique natural environment formed by the Odiel Marshes, Natural Park of Enebrales and Doñana, the hotel reached in 2015, 995 tons of CO2, and these were caused mainly , by the consumption of electricity and propane, the latter being the fuel used for hot water and cooking.

This is a hotel that, as a result of its clear ecological conscience, has implemented numerous sustainable energy saving measures and efficient management, which recently earned it being chosen as one of the 10 best hotels in Spain in sustainability and hotel rehabilitation by receiving the Re Think Hotel Award in the category TSMEDIA.

Given the difficulty of reducing emissions, they sought alternatives to neutralise the carbon footprint generated by them. The solution came from the hand of the company Allcot, through the so-called CO2 compensation.
