The competition includes two categories: TSMEDIA: Hotels that have already implemented such measures and Re Think Hotel, the best rehabilitation plans and overall performance.
The winning projects pose improved rehabilitation of its facilities, energy efficiency and integration with the natural environment and RSC.s
The International Tourism Fair in Spain (FITUR) has hosted the Awards Ceremony Hotel Re Think with the top 10 sustainability and rehabilitation projects in the Spanish hotel sector of 2015.
In the category TSMEDIA of already implemented projects, Boutique Hotel ‘La Isla and el Mar’ has been the only hotel awarded in Lanzarote. The winning projects have been assessed comprehensively within 2 main areas:
Global Sustainability: preserving the natural environment and local identity; use of eco-suppliers and selective waste management and recycling.
Sustainability of the Building: use, management and maintenance; surround; plant efficiency and integration of renewable energy systems.
Think Re Hotel, an initiative which this year celebrates its 2nd edition, brings together both public and private sectors with the common objective of activating the interest of entrepreneurs exploring the hotel sustainable rehabilitation, for both economic and environmental benefits, generating a key strategic value for the future development of the sector.
