Travellers nowadays are increasingly determined to follow the trend for sustainable tourism and the hotel sector is beginning to listen to their demands primarily in a bid to attract the custom of eco-aware and responsible tourists, but also to save costs.
In short, sustainable tourism has not only become a priority for the leaders of the sector, but also a matter of ethical necessity.
According to the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, tourism accounts for 5% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, a figure that is expected to grow some 130% by 2035.
