Vertical gardens and other ‘hits’ in hotel sustainability

Vertical gardens and other ‘hits’ in hotel sustainability

Sustainability has been a hot topic in the hotel industry in recent years, and will continue to be so. Customers are increasingly seeking authentic and sustainable experiences, especially the so-called millennial generation -more sensitive to these issues-, and they increasingly demand that hotels put in place actions that allow them to be more respectful of the environment.

According to a study carried out by the consulting firm Deloitte, 95% of business travelers in the United States believe that the hotel sector should undertake ecological initiatives.

These are some of the trends in sustainability that have been observed in the international market and are coming to Spain in the hands of large hotel chains:

  1. Measurement of the carbon footprint
  2. Sustainable F&B
  3. Awareness and divulge
  4. Unique rooftops
  5. Fresh and local products
  6. Natural designs and materials
  7. Sustainable orchards and gardens
