ASOLAN and Responsible Tourism Instiute (RTI) present the results of the Biosphere Smart Hotel 2017 program at Espacio 48 of the CACT

Five establishments demonstrate their clear commitment to digital transformation and sustainability by participating in the Biosphere Smart Hotel Program.

ASOLAN and the Responsible Tourism Instiute (RTI) will provide long-term support to participating establishments to support the achievement of the Biosphere Smart Hotel Plan.

Espacio 48, the new facilities of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote in Arrecife, focused on open innovation, hosted the presentation of Results of the Smart Hotel 2017 Program, joint program between ASOLAN and the Responsible Tourism Instiute (RTI), and with the financing of the Cabildo. The event was attended by the Councilor for Tourism of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Echedey Eugenio, Héctor Fernández, CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote and José Juan Lorenzo, CEO of the CACT of Lanzarote.

The Biosphere Smart Initiative is based on the idea to maximise the use of new information technologies to build a covenant for a sustainable future and a transition to green societies based on knowledge.

Citizens become both beneficiaries and key actors of the information and participation tools of the Initiative. They can also be sensors able to provide information about their spatial experiences, improving their capacity of participation and co-design.

In this third edition of 2017 have participated: the Arrecife Gran Hotel, Sandos Papagayo Hotel, Marconfort Atlantic Gardens Apartments, Fariones Apartments and Panorama Apartments. The program does not end with this act of delivering Results Report and Improvement Plans, but it will take a long-term support to support compliance with the priorities detected in the diagnoses by ASOLAN and the ITR, as is already doing with the participants of previous years.

Once the establishment reaches the level of established requirements, it will be able to qualify for the “Biosphere Smart Hotel” certification, which will allow it to give visibility to the added value that this competitive improvement entails: “Smart” and “Biosphere” (intelligent and sustainable) in a highly competitive environment where differentiation is the key element.

The participating establishments received diplomas accrediting participation in the Program and three of them with special mentions: Arrecife Gran Hotel, Smart mention for its commitment to technological modernization and digital transformation, and Sandos Papagayo Hotel and Marconfort Atlantic Gardens Apartments, mention Biosphere for its level in Sustainability, with high compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
