It is worth mentioning the strategy undertaken by the Sociedad de Promoción Exterior de Lanzarote (SPEL) “aimed at recovering and strengthening the positioning of the German market on the island, which is one of our main markets and extremely strategic for us, since it is the great economic lung of Europe and also very close to Lanzarote “, according to the Tourism Councilor of Cabildo de Lanzarote, Echedey Eugenio.

German tourism, with an influx of 439,609 tourists, occupied the second place in 2016 in the ranking of markets in the island, only surpassed by the British.

Recent attendance at two important fairs in Germany

In this line, as part of its strategy to intensify promotion in the German market, in recent weeks SPEL has attended two major tourist fairs in Germany, Museumsuferfest and TourNatur.

The Museumsuferfest Fair, which takes place on the banks of the River Main in the city of Frankfurt, is an open-air event aimed at the final public which brings together more than 2 million visitors, so it is a outstanding promotional action of the insular entity of promotion that generates a great impact. It has become one of the largest cultural festivals in Europe, where 23 museums and 17 stages offer more than 500 events attracting visitors from all over Southern Germany. For the fourth consecutive year, Turismo Lanzarote attended this fair that took place between 25 and 27 August, with its own stand under the umbrella of Turespaña and coordinated by the Spanish Tourism Office in Frankfurt).

With its wide range of destinations for outdoor activities, innovative technical accessories and latest trends, as well as an informative program of conferences and attractive practical activities, the fair has become a leading event in this tourist segment, where Lanzarote is gaining a better positioning with an increasingly better offer aimed at nature tourism and hiking, which is booming in Germany.

In both fairs, the Lanzarote stand attracted a lot of interest among the German public, who showed their interest in “how incredible and different the island is”, according to many of the comments made by those attending these two events.
