A loggerhead turtle rescued with Timanfaya returns to the sea

A new copy of loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) was able to return Thursday to its natural habitat, thanks to ‘Recovery Program Wildlife Rugged protected wild‘ Cabildo de Lanzarote.

The turtle was found entangled and trapped in a fishing net on 6 July at the beach Wood, National Park Timanfaya, so they decided to name it name.

Now, two weeks later, “Timanfaya” has returned to the sea, in the area known as Los Cocoteros in Guatiza. The Minister of Environment of the Cabildo, Marcos Bergaz, and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Energy, Ariagona Gonzalez, have gone to the beach to participate in this release, together with technicians of this program and the personnel responsible for recovery.

After collecting them and receive appropriate veterinary care, Timanfaya was transferred on 11 July Aquarium Costa Teguise for a few days under observation until Thursday, fully recovered, he has been able to return to Atlantic.
